Death
Jeanette Furr, aka Grandma Nette was born on June 3, 1935 in Dublin, Texas to Roy and Jewell. She passed away at home in Rancho Mirage, California on December 28, 2019. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, and her sister, Queenelle. She is survived by her children: Johnny (Phyllis) Furr, Kenny Furr, and Becky Stephens; grand-daughters: Cyndi Furr, Kim (Jake) Balmer, Elaine Stephens, Cathie Stephens, Laurie (Tim) Olson, Lisa (Joe) Lloyd, and Leslie (Robert) Meza; and six great-grandchildren: Jordan, Caleb, Elijah, Jude, Ezra, and Melynda. She moved to California with her parents and sister in 1943. She and Jack married in 1950. She worked at GTE for a decade. While raising her family in Indio, she served on the Date Festival Fair Board for many years and hosted the queen and her court in the 60s and 70s. She was also active at First Church of the Nazarene (now Las Palmas Community) for many years. A Celebration of Life will be held at Southwest Community Church on Saturday, January 25 at 1:00 pm.
