Death

Mrs. Florence E. Furr Epperson, age 96, a resident of Lake Alfred, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale. Mrs. Epperson was born August 24, 1929, in Sacramento, California to Luke and Georgia (Fleming) Furr. She moved from Indiana to Florida with her husband Raymond Cecil and their 2 sons in the fall of 1956. Florence worked for Adams Packing in the Fruit Buyers Department as the Office Manager for over 25 years. She was a charter member of the Winter Haven Christian Church and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed raising beautiful orchids, sewing, cruel, needlepoint and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2004 – Raymond Cecil Epperson; 11 brothers & sisters and daughter in law – Lou Ann Epperson. Florence is survived by her loving family, 2 sons – Raymond (Gloria) Epperson, Jr. & Stephen (Vickie) Epperson; 5 grandchildren – Amy & Justin Powell, Mark Epperson, Melissa (Jason) Steven, Joshua (Jessica) Epperson & Becky (Paul) McWhiter; 13 great grandchildren – Elizabeth, Charlotte, Jordan, Holly, Jeremiah, Jedidiah, Joscelyn, James, Jacob, Jennavieva, Annabelle, Lilly Katherine & Elliana. In lieu of flowers Florence requested donations be made to – Lighthouse Ministries, P.O. Box 3112, Lakeland, Florida 33802. Funeral service & celebration of Florence’s life will be held 5pm Friday, April 10th at Winter Haven Christian Church, 301 6th Street NE, with visitation beginning at 4pm at the church. Private interment will be held.
