Walter Jesse’s WillProved 2nd October 1752

In the name of God amen, I Walter Jesse of Richland Township, County of Chester,and Province of Pennsylvania being sick and weak of body but of sound mind and memory blessed be God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following:
First,I commend my soul into the hand of God who made it, hoping to find mercy through the merits of Jesus Christ. And my body to the earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in a decent &Christian manner.
And as to my worldly estate after my just debts & funeral charges paid, I do order and divide it in manner following:
First,I give and bequeath unto my trusty and loving friend Charles Moor, Birkets“Paraphrase with Annotations on the New Testament.”
Also,I give and bequeath unto my friend & relation Edward Goff my saddle and all my wearing apparel.
I do likewise make, ordain, constitute, and appoint the said Charles Moor &Edward Goff joint executors of this my last will and testament to look after and perform the same.
Also,I do give and bequeath unto Sarah Goff the daughter of Edward & Mary Goff my bed and bedding and all and singular my house furniture and also the sum of fifty pounds to be paid for by my said executors when she arrives to the age of eighteen years and also all my books which I have except Birkets “On the New Testament.”
And also, I give and bequeath unto Mary Goff the daughter of Edward & Mary Goff,the sum of fifty pounds which was due to me from her father for which he hath given her a bond and also the sum of fifty pounds more which I order my said executors to pay for when she arrives to the age of eighteen years together with lawful interest from the time of my decease.
And also, I will and bequeath unto Frances Goff, the daughter of Edward & Mary Goff the sum of fifty pounds, and unto Anne Goff, their said daughter the sum of forty pounds to be paid unto them when they arrive to the age of eighteen together with lawful interest from the time of my decease.
And further it is my will & I do order that if any one or more of the above-mentioned daughters of Edward & Mary Goff shall happen to die before they arrive to the age of eighteen years without lawful issue that then her or their portions shall be equally divided between them which survive.
Also,I give and bequeath unto Sarah Davies, the daughter of Phillip and Elizabeth Davies, the sum of one pound to buy her a bible.
And as to the residue and remainder of my estate it is my will & I do order it to be equally divided between Edward Goff, John Goff, & William Goff, the sons of said Edward and Mary Goff. And if one or more of them should die before they arrive to the age of twenty-one years it is my will & I do order that his or their dividend be equally divided between him or them which survive.
And I do hereby disannul and make void all former wills or testaments by me made or supposed to be made ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my last will & testament. I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty-two.
