Last Will & TestamentBerks County, Pennsylvania, 13 March 1775 — Transcription by Allen S. Goff (2008)
In the name of God, Amen. The thirteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five. I, Edward Goff of Robeson Township, Berks County and Province of Pennsylvania, yeoman; being very sick and weak in body but of perfect sound mind, memory and understanding, thanks be given to God for it. Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do this thirteenth day of March, ye year above written, make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament; that is to say principally and first of all I commend my soul unto God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors herein after named, never doubting but I shall receive the same again at the general Resurrection by the Mighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me in this life with, I give devise and bequeath or dispose of in the following manner and form.
It is my will and I do order that all my just debts and funeral expenses be all honestly paid and discharged.
Item. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Mary one feather bed and bedstead with furniture thereto, an iron pot and hook, likewise my case of drawers and half the pewter in my house, one brown cow out of my stock and likewise the sum of sixty pounds (£60) in money of the Province aforesaid, twenty (£20) thereof in the year 1777, and forty pounds (£40) more thereof in the year 1779 during her natural life and if anything be remaining after her decease, to be equally divided among my children then living, only the household goods to be for my daughter ANN at the decease of my wife Mary, to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Jones the sum of ten pounds (£10) lawful money aforesaid to be paid in ye year 1777 to her, her heirs and assigns forever.

Likewise I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Goff a certain piece of land on the North side the road leading from the Mine holes to Birds furnace, which I reserved and now hold by an instrument of writing under the hand and seal of my son John Goff for a certain term of fifteen years retention being thereunto had will at large appear, it being now under the tenure of a certain Cynis Cartwright on lease bearing date the 27th day of February 1775 subject to rent of four pounds (£4) a year for eleven years from the year of our Lord 1779 till ye year 1790, which will amount to be forty-four pounds (£44) of which I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Goff twenty four pounds (£24) to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my son Jesse Goff the sum of one hundred and thirty pounds (£130) lawful money aforesaid. Thirty pounds (£30) thereof in the year 1776 and eighty (£60) more thereof in 1778 and twenty pounds (£20) more thereof in 1782, and likewise the other part of the aforesaid reserved land [see preceding Item] or the rent ensuing therefrom to him and his heirs and assigns forever.Item.
