John Sollars of Maryland was a respected gentleman landowner who was once selected to address the King of England on behalf of the Protestants of Maryland. He had several children from his marriage to Ann Sabrett Sullivan, including son Robert and young daughter Elizabeth. Robert Sollars married Mary Selby, daughter of William Selby and the Mary Selby who wed Joshua Cecil. It is recorded that Joshua gave a heifer to the son of Robert and Mary Selby Sollars in 1711/12. Robert Sollars's sister Elizabeth married John Cecil seven years later.
