Henry Skaggs
(1759 - 1851)
Per his Rev. War pension appication, Henry was born in 1759 in SC, where his family probably had gone to escape the terrors of the French & Indian War in their valley in Virginia. they returned to Botetort Co. (later Montgomery), Virginia, shortly thereafter. Grew up on the Little River branch of the New River in Botetourt Co.
1779-1780/81 served in the Rev. War.
1780's tried to settle in Kentucky. (left because of Indian trouble?)
1790 moved to Green Co., Kentucky.
1810 first listed 100+ acres ROCK CREEK Grayson Co., tax rolls.
1840 Grayson Co. census - living with son James Skaggs.
1851 died in Grayson Co., Kentucky.
