Individual Details

The tombstone of Charity Tarrance lists a birthdate of July 7, 1875 and the tombstone of Azro Tarrance lists a date of Oct. 19, 1874. If these were both true, then Azro would be 8 months and 18 days old when Charity was born. I doubt this so I did some more checking.

The 1900 census lists Charity's birthdate as July 1874 and the Kentucky Death Records list it as 7 July 1874. Here we have two records in agreement. So, if we presume that Charity was born 7 July 1874, rather than 1875, then we still have a problem with Azro's birthdate. Researching Azro, I find the following:

Kentucky Death Records: 19 Oct. 1875
1900 census: Oct. 1876
WWI Draft Registration Card; 19 Oct 1877

Since the tombstone date for Azro does not work with the presumed date of Charity's birth, and we are using Kentucky Death Records for Charity, I chose to also use Kentucky Death records for Azro. I think the Kentucky Death records are probably more accurate than census records. Therefore, I am using a birth date of 19 Oct 1875 for Azro.

If more evidence surfaces, we can reevaluate this.

I found Azro's death certificate which lists his birth as 19 Oct 1875. This agrees with my above conclusion.
