Military Serve
He was a Cavalry Officer equerry to Princess Charlotte of Wales - the"Princess Charlotte's Own". The Officers gave the Candelbra - that is
why it is supported by the Prince of Wales Feathers.
At the age of 16 years he applied to purchase a Cornetcy (Commission)
in the 5th Regiment of the Dragoon Guards for 735 pounds.
He served in the Peninsular War (1807 -1814) as A.D.C to Major
Ponsonby, and as Secretary to Board Claims. He was present at the
Battle of Salamanche.
He died at Orvieto on the way home to England in 1865.
