Marriage
They met in France during the War. Assisted by his mates with theirpeculiar Australian sense of humour, he learnt a few words of French
to address his suit to her father. Fortunately Monsieur Pauchet had a
sense of humour and questioned William as to the source of his words.
He then revealed that some of the things he had been saying were not
very polite - he had been taught some very rough language.
