Individual Details

William "Will" SHEPHERD

(20 Oct 1842 - 6 Nov 1900)

William arrived in Sydney about 1867 and married Ann Eva NEWTON on 30th September 1876.
Shown on George Ronald's marriage certificate as a draftsman.

Family 'hot gos' has it that relatives of Jane Fawcett were in Australia and that is why William came here in about 1871. He worked for several years as a teacher and then as a Draftsman in the New South Wales Lands Department. It was an excellent position and he built a substantial house named 'Lorna Doon' in Bexley, Sydney. It was later an Anglican Rectory. The site is now a large block of units.
