Wedding WHELAN— RICHARDSON.
Families of over 30 years' residence in Longreach were united in marriage at St. Andrew's Church of England, Longreach, on January 10. The bride- groom was. Philip George, eldest son of Mrs. Whelan and the late Mr. Philip Whelan, Galah Street, and the bride was Ethel Agnes, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Richardson, Crane Street, Rev. E. L. B. Gribble offici- ated. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. W. Jackson, wore a gown of white marlette. The long sleeved bodice was fashioned with a yoke of silk lace. The fully flared skirt, which featured an uneven hem line, fell from a hip yoke also com- posed of silk lace. Her circular veil, which was the gift of relatives, was arranged mob cap fashion with a chap- let of orange blossom. The bride car- ried a bouquet of lilies of the valley. The bridesmaids were Misses Olga Shepherd and Nettie Howard (nieces of ' the bridegroom). They wore georgette frocks, one being in shades of pink and the other in tones of blue. Both were fashioned with long bodices attached to flared skirts which fell to ankle length. Each maid wore, in addition, a tulle bandeau and carried a bouquet of tinted roses finished with tulle bows. Pendants of pearls and sapphires, gifts from the bridegroom, were also worn and formed a charm ing finish. The duties of best man and groomsman were carried out by Messrs. Herbert and Carl Richardson (brothers of the bride). The wedding dejeuner was served at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Shep- herd, Crane Street. Rev. E. L. B. Gribble presided and tho customary toasts were honoured. The honeymoon will be spent in Brisbane and Sydney. The bride travelled in a Beige costume, featuring a two tiered tiered skirt effect and a picture hat.
