Robert Gee was indicated, and convicted, at the Denbighshire Court of Great Sessions, for stealing a violin, a violin case, a violin bow and two waistcoats from Richard Manley of Marchiwel,and for stealing two watches from Mary Manley. According to there cognizances binding Richard and Mary Manley to prosecute and give evidence, Robert Gee came from Ellesmere, Shorpshire, and he was employed as a miller. Judging from the despositions Gee lodged on the night of 17th and 17th June 1817 at the Manleys. Following the discovery of the thefts Richard Manley followed Robert to Ellesmere and had him arrested by the local constable. Gee apparently confessed to the constable that he had sold part of the stolen goods to fellow millers in Ellesmere. Robert was found guilty on the 15th August 1817 and transported for seven years on the convict ship "Grenada (1) arriving in Sydney 21 stOctober 1819. 152 male convicts on board, no deaths on voyage. Robert's native place "Cheshire" calling " Miller " age 40yrs, height 5' 5" brown hair, hazel eyes. The court records do not contain any details as regards to Roberts family or parents.
