Mary Jane Matilda May PERRYMAN

1902 from the inquest into the death of Mary Jane Matilda May Perryman; She and three others hired a boat from Brumby Ferry Richmond and rowed as far as Hawthorn Bridge, on returning hit a snag in the Yarra River near Wallans Road Bridge. The other occupants of the boat were Alice Young, 15 years old of 596 Church Street Richmond. George Lawton, 221 years old of Cr. Green and Balmain Streets Richmond. Ernie Laby, also drowned, 21 years old of Mary Street Richmond. Police were informed at 5.55pm. The drowned girl was identified by her step-father George Styles of 1 Howard Street Richmond. The Board of Works was notified about the snag which caused the accident.
