SAD SUICIDE — A DESPONDENT WOMAN — Southern Cross, August 30At midday Mrs. Bowker went to Roberts' cordial factory and asked her husband, who manages the factory, for a bottle of lemonade. This she drank behind her husband's back, and then she walked towards Mr. Chadwick's house with her baby in her arms. She was met by a butcher, who asked for Saturday's order. She replied that she was in great trouble, as she had taken strychnine, and did not know what the outcome would be. She returned to the factory, and told her husband what she had done, and he sent for Dr. Humphry, and rushed for an emetic. The unfortunate woman expired a few moments after the doctor arrived. She had been worrying about her husband's bad health, he being subject to fits. A note found in her bedroom, and evidently written by her, said that she was tired of life, and left everything she possessed to her darling child.— West Australian, 31 August 1907, page 12.DEATHBOWKER (Robertson).—On the [30th] August, at Southern Cross, W.A., Mina, dearly beloved wife of Robert Bowker and youngest daughter of Mrs. A. and the late W.
