1. George T. Stone: Purchased his father's old homestead after his death in 1895, which contains tow hundred and forty acres of the finest farming land in the entire state of Iowa. Located in section 28, Richland Township. Since buying the farm, he dug wells and piped water to the house, barns, yard, etc. laying one hundred and thirty rods of pipe to different parts o the farm, as well as erecting a wind mill. He also built a cistern with a capacity of three hundred barrels of water. The well and th cistern supply the entire property with an abundance of water for stock. He also has one of the finest orchards in the county and raises considerable fruit, but only for home use and he follows a general line of farming and stock-raising. In 1910 had about sixteen head of registered short-horn cattle and one of the finest dukes to be found in the county of Tama, and he is also a large raiser of thoroughbred Plymouth Rock chickens, of which he sold as high as seventy-five in one year. Also acted as Township clerk, assessor in Poweshiek County and Richland Township trustee.
