Birth
n Loving MemoryWILLIAM L. JACKSON
William L. Jackson, age 82, died on Sunday, October 28, 2007. He was born in Grinnell, Iowa on September 9, 1925, the son of Margery McLain Jackson and Wallace G. Jackson. His mother passed away when he was eight days old and he and his father then lived with his grandparents William and Laura Jackson for the next eight years, until his father married Fonda Hester. He then made his home with his new stepmother and father.
He was educated in the Earlham, Iowa schools from kindergarten through high school. He enlisted in a special Army program before his graduation from high school in 1943, but was not called to duty until after graduation. He served in the US Army until April 1946, during which time he saw action in Europe with the 86th Infantry Division, and was redeployed, to the Philippine Islands in preparation for the invasion of Japan, which proved to be an unnecessary redeployment. Upon discharge from the army he attended the University of Iowa graduation in 1949. He later passed the Certified Public Accountants exam. In 1947, he married his high school sweetheart Margery Imboden, a marriage that has been a very happy union of 60 years. This marriage has been blessed with four children who survive him: Ann Jackson, Phoenix, NY, Stephen W. Jackson (wife Nancy) of Westport, CT, Marilyn Lane (husband Kenny) of Jacksonville, FL, and Richard A. Jackson (wife Wendy) of Ft. Myers, FL. There are five grandchildren that survive him: Kelsey Jackson of Nashville, TN, Ross and Carly Jackson of Ft. Myers, FL, and Danny and Erika Lane of Jacksonville, FL. Two half sisters also survive him namely Janet Joyner (husband David) of Carmel, IN and Jane Drury of Fairport, NY.
He spent twenty-five years in the Chicago area serving as chief financial officer of three different manufacturing corporations. In 1975, the family relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where with the help of his wife he opened a small business accounting practice, which he operated for over twenty years before selling the practice to his niece who is also a CPA. He continued to work with her for five years aiding in the orderly transfer of clients to the new owners. With his wife Margery, he retired to Ocala, Florida. He loved traveling, visiting with friends and family and attending Army and Earlham Class reunions. Bill believed strongly in education and encouraged his family to take advantage of all educational opportunities to which they had access. He cherished his family and followed their accomplishments closely with pride.

Togetherness
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near just around the corner...
All is well. Nothing is past, nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before,
only better, infinitely happier
and forever we will be one together.
