Dear Eric,

Thanks for you letter & I was pleased to hear that you are going to compile a history of the Read family. It is something I have often thought of doing myself but somehow never got around to it.

I have filled in all that I can on your draft & altered some of your figures ets. as I have grandmother's Birthday Book, dated 1876, & was able to look at this to check. As you will see the name was Quartly with no E at the end & there seem(s) to have been an awful lot of them - also quite a few BRIGG although i dont know who they were.

Mum told me years ago that Aunty Queenie & Uncle Ernie had changed their name when they left for Canada. I think they had been, or were going to be a Steward & stewardess & that gave them the idea of Steward. As you will see I was registered as Peggy & never Margaret & Jim & I have no children so I guess we're the end of the line as far as your Aunt Olive's descendants. Isnt it sad! We've got a big dog - is that any good? Ha Ha.

It was lovely to hear from you Eric & I hope you are keeping well & happy. I would be very pleased to reserve a copy of the Family Tree when you have finished & if I can help you any more please let me know.
