Dear Irene,

Thank you so much for your nice letter. It was ever so kind of you to write. It is so awkward writing to people you have never met & on such a sad occasion too. Strangely enough I had 3 letters from your mum dated Dec 9, 13 & 18 & your & Eric's Christmas cars all by the same post today. I cannot think where they have been all this time. Thank you for your card & will you please thank Eric & Mary for theirs for me. Uncle & I went & saw Gwen on Saturday & of course saw her new bsby. He is a pet. They are calling him Jonathan. I think all new babies are lovely don't you? I have not been feeling too good this last week, had limbago & it just won't seem to go. I expect it is the cold wet weather we have been having lately. Had quite a lot of snow last week 3 or 4 inches thick but luckily it did not las long. A thaw set in & we were all glad to see it go. The weather forecast this evening seems to suggest ther is more on the way; I hope they are wrong. Well I have got some knitting to do so think I had better get busy. Give our love to your Dad 7 thank you again for your letter.
