Born 1922 at Fort William, Ontario; home there; enlisted Winnipeg, 24 April 1942. Trained at No.3 WS (graduated 6 July 1942) and No.2 BGS (graduated 22 February 1943). Commissioned November 1944. No citation other than "completed...numerous operations against the enemy in the course of which [he has] invariably displayed the utmost courage and devotion to duty". LEA C. Norman 'Homer'D.F.C. Veteran WWII - Peacefully at the IOOF Home, Barrie, on Thursday, June 23rd, 2005. Norm 'Homer' Lea in his 83rd year. Loving husband and best friend of Phyllis (nee Sibbald) for 52 years. Loving and proud father of Joanne Beattie and her husband Doug of Huntsville, and Dr. Rob Lea and his wife Crystal, and grandsons Brenton and Bryson of Barrie. Norm is retired Supervisor of Accounting for the old Georgian Bay Region of Ontario Hydro. During WWII, he flew 60 missions with #425 Alouette, and #405 Pathfinder Squadron, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Member of Society of Industrial and Cost Accountants/Certified Management Accountants, The Barrie Veterans Club, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #147, The Canadian Air Force Association (at large), The Ontario Hydro Quarter Century Club and Pensioners Association, and various other organizations. Friends may call atthe STECKLEY-GOODERHAM FUNERAL HOME, Clapperton and Worsley Streets, Barrie, after 10:00 o'clock on Monday. Servicein the chapel on Monday, June 27th at 11:00 o'clock. Cremation. Memorial donationsto the ALS Society, Royal VictoriaHospital Foundation, or the Heart& Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
