Marriage

A THANKSGIVING WEDDING --- At high noon on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the home of the bride's parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Fred F. Breniman, the wedding was solemnized of their daughter, Ada to Mrs. Oliver Leroy Forehand of Grinnell, Rev. Sylvester E. Ellis, pastor of the M. E. Church of Iowa City officiating.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Chas. McSherry, sister of the bride, sang "O Promise Me", accompanied on the piano by Miss Mildred McLain, cousin of the bride. This was followed by Lohengrin's Wedding March, played by Miss Ruth Forehand, sister of the groom, during which the bridal company entered the parlor and the solemn rites were said that united for life the destinies of these estimable young people. The officiating clergyman was formerly pastor of the M. E. Church at Ft. Collins, Colorado, and was a close personal friend of the bride's family. The beautiful ring ceremony was used.
During congratulations, Miss Ruth Forehand sang "I Love You Truly", which was follfowed by choice selections on the piano by Miss. Mae Jones. Following congratulations, an elegant three course turkey dinner was served to about seventy five guests. Those who so ably assisted in serving were Mrs. C. E. Willett, Mrs. Edward Breniman, Mrs. W. J. McClain, Mrs. Ernest Breniman, Mrs. Ivan Garnett, Miss Margaret Gallagher, Miss Vergie Fraser, Miss Anna Gloe, Miss Ollie Dunton, Miss Edith Wylie, Misses Mildred and Margery McClain, Mrs. Leslie Wylie, Mrs. Alice Goodlow.
The bride wore white crepe do chine and lace and carried a bouquet of bride's roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ruby Breniman, who was dressed in pink crepe de chine with gold lace trimmings. The groom wore a suit of blue serge and was attended by Mr. Otto Gloe as best man.
The groom, or Roy, as he is commonly known, is a son of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Forehand of Grinnell and is an honest upright bustling young farmer, a man of good habits. He attended hight school, also took a business course at Grinnell.
The bride is a model young woman and a truly home girl. She is an accomplished musician. She attended the Conservatory of Music in Grinnell for a year, also played for a long time in the Brooklyn orchestra. The bride's father and groom's father were close college chums in their boyhood days.
Only relatives and a very few close friends witnessed the ceremony.
