Birth: Nov. 26, 1887 Death: Jul. 15, 1969Edith Newlin passed away on Tuesday July 15, 1969 at a nursing home in Perry.
Miss Newlin was 81 years of age. Daughter of a pioneer Iowa family, she spent much of her life in educational work for the Society of Friends in the United States and abroad.
She graduated from William Penn college in Oskaloosa and obtained an M.A. degree in psychology at Columbia University in New York City in 1930.
In her career, she had taught rural school in O'Brien county. From about 1920 to 1928 she was a faculty member at a Friends missionary school in Japan. Later she served for 20 years as a supervisor of Quaker schools for the Philadelphia Yearling Meeting of Friends, and for 15 years as psychologist for the Overbrook school for the blind in Philadelphia.
She is survived by two brothers, Jay J. Newlin of Des Moines and Roy Newlin of Earlham.

EARLHAM SERVICES FOR EDITH NEWLIN
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Bear Creek Friends meeting house near Earlham for Edith Newlin whose death occurred Tuesday July 15, at a nursing home in Perry.
Miss Newlin was 81 years of age. Daughter of a pioneer Iowa family, she spent much of her life in educational work for the Society of Friends in the United States and abroad.
She graduated from William Penn college in Oskaloosa and obtained an M.A. degree in psychology at Columbia University in New York City in 1930.
