In a letter from grand-niece Peggy Olive Bennet Elkington (granddaughter of William Roland Read) to her cousin Eric Ernest Isaacs Steward she wrote: "I think that Grandad had a brother & that was who we called Uncle Jack & he was married to Aunty Lucy. I remember I liked him very much – he was a dear but a bit stuffy. I wasn’t very keen on Aunt Lucy – ramrod straight & rather sharp in her way of talking. They had no children. Uncle Jack was born 20th June 1854 – died April 1st 1943. Aunty Lucy born 6th April 1858 – died 18th March 1940.Grandad also had two sisters. I knew them as Aunty Mer & Aunty Lizzie. Mercy – born Jan. 24th 1860. Lizzie Feb 2?
