He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Fort Collins and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Knoxville, Iowa.

Marriage

Notice in the newspaper...Miss Lillian Brenniman and Iven Garnet were married Tuesday afternoon at the home of the bride's mother on West Fourth Avenue. Rev. H. L. Wissler performed the sermon a few minutes before five o'clock. It was a private wedding with only the immediate relatives and a very few friends present. At five o'clock a regular supper was served by Miss Lucy Keys. Mr. Garnet has a hotel in Knoxville, where the newly married couple will make their home. Out of town guests were Mr. Breniman and Mrs. Neil Willet, of Brooklyn, brother and sister of the bride, and Mr. Garnett's mother and two sisters, Mrs. Garnett, Miss Ruby Garnett and Mrs. Clyde Graham. Mr. Graham will be remembered as a former manager of the Leader. He is now living in Fairfield. The marriage was a surprise to her many friends in the city who did not find out about it unitl a few hours before the wedding.
