"Daniel Wadkins Cantrell served in the 16th Tennessee Infantry, CSA, Colonel Savage, in Capt. L. N. Savage's company. Was badly wounded in the war and taken prisoner. Was confined in Barracks No. 27 at Cairo, Illinois. Later he joined the "Frontiers" and was sent to Kansas to fight the Indians."
