Lewis E. Cantrell
(November 12, 1872 - August 31, 1934)
"Lewis E. Cantrell was born in a farm near Everton, Dade County, Missouri. He assisted his parents in improving the farm. His parents took pride in the farm that was under a high state of cultivation and improvement. Lewis E. received the usual school advantages of Dade County. He began the study of dental surgery in the 1890's, graduating from the Western Dental College in Kansas City, Missouri in 1901. After graduating from college, he began practice in Everton, Missouri, where he met with success from the start. He enjoyed a large and lucrative practice, and he was one of the prominent exponents of Dental Surgery in Dade County. His brother, Benjamin F. Cantrell, also was a dental surgeon. Dr. Lewis E. Cantrell was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and frequently was identified with the A.F. & A.M. at Everton, I.O.O.F. Chapter at Ash Grove, Maccabees and W.O.W. He was a Republican, and he could always be depended upon to lend assistance to any cause for the good of the county and state. He was a booster for good roads and all public improvements. Dr. Cantrell was truly one of our prominent citizens, and he was well worthy of the high esteem in which he was held by all who knew him."
