Alvin Lee Perkins

(August 31, 1899 - May 14, 1925)

"Uncle Alvin lived with Grandmother Perkins after his father's death. She bought a home in Clyde. Uncle Alvin was the owner of his own garage. Bill Cornelius worked for him. Grandmother accompanied Uncle Alvin to El Paso, Texas to the T. B. Sanatarium. Both Uncle Bill and Uncle Alvin worked too hard and his death was attributed to that factor. I remember his coming downstairs with his guitar, sitting in Grandmother's leather chair and playing. After Alvin's death, she sold the home and lived with her children, mostly Vade and Celia. Uncle Bill continued in the garage work, but died fairly early of a heart attack. Mary Faye, Billy Sue, and Joan are all married. Mary Fay was valdictorian of her graduating class. Aunt Annie moved to Lubbock where a brother lived. Now she is in Midland, Texas where a daughter lives. She has her own apartment." (Mildred Wilhelm, 1991)
