Dee McCleskey, 89, of Robert Lee passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, in a local hospital. Dee was born Nov. 13, 1911, in Bronte to Jim W. and Ida Henson McCleskey. After graduating from high school he attended Draughn Business College in Abilene and worked as member of the Civilian Conservation Corp during the Depression in Las Vegas, N.M. He enlisted in the Army and served in the infantry in World War II, being discharged in 1937 as a major. After returning from military service, he was employed as an officer manager for a drilling company. He retired from the drilling company and moved to Robert Lee. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Society of Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartets Singing in America. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois McCleskey in 1993 and by one brother, Lloyd McCleskey. He is survived by a daughter, Dee Anna Bogusch of Cleburne; one sister, Louise Allen of Abilene; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one nephew; and two nieces. Service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Robert Lee Cemetery.
