Josiah Houston was born in Washington County, Georgia and married Catherine in Wayne County, Mississippi in 1813. Catherine was born in South Carolina. They lived mostly in Mississippi, in Wayne, Newton and Neshoba Counties. For a short period they lived in Sumter County, Alabama along with his father Henry Rufus Houston. After his death they went back to Newton County, Mississippi. Josiah and Catherine remained there until their death.
