Individual Details
William Eli Beller
(Abt, 1845 - )
1850 Carroll Co, Ark census.
"William Eli did not marry, he died while in the Southern Army during the Civil War. He was thrown from his horse and injured by the horn of the saddle. His father, Peter had a vision of his death and went with an ox-cart to Pearidge Arkansas, near Springdale, picked up his son's body and returned through the Eureka Mountains where at night he had to build a ring of fire around him, the oxen and the body to keep the wild animals away. He had made his sons burial suit and his casket before the battle of Pea Ridge even occurred." (Judy Gladden files.)
