"Ruthie Mae Stroud, 87, of Gurdon died Sunday, March 11, 2001. Mrs. Stroud was a retired school teacher and homemaker and a member of Hammonds Chapel Church. She is survived by three daughters, Katherine Newberry, Linda Bittle and Mary Ricketts, all of Gurdon; one sister, Mattie Duckett of Albuquerque, N.M.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and a daughter, Marjorie Braddock. Services will be held Wednesday, today, March 14, at 10:00 a. m. in Hammonds Chapel Church with interment in Easley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon."
