"William Roscoe Greer was born in West Virginia in 1880. He was adopted by his parents friends (Rhudy) after they were killed (unknown cause). He was raised with this family and later married one of the daughters. Her name is Martha Melinda Rhudy, also known as Mattie L. Rhudy? She was born in 1884. She has a brother named Alexander "Bud" Rhudy that moved to Florida and another named Muncy Rhudy that never married. William and Mattie moved from West Virginia to California in a covered wagon.
