Individual Details

William Bourn Sr.

(Abt, 1650 - June 12, 1716)

William Bourn was listed in 1686 in New Kent County, Virginia as one of the "headrights" claimed in a land grant to Nichols (Nicholas) Wyatt. In 1689, he was a land owner in New Kent County. In 1698, 1700 and 1705 his tithables were assigned to road duty. In 1704 he was taxed on 140 acres. This land was apparently in present Hanover County, which was formed from New Kent County in 1721. On 28 December 1711 he married Mary Vaughn, this being presumed a second marriage. On 12 June 1716, he died. (Information from St. Peter's Parish Register.)

William Bourn, Sr was probably the father of Stephen and William Bourn, Jr. The St. Peter's Parish Register contains data on these two men, but there are no birth records as the first pages of the Register are missing. If they were born before the parish was formed, the Blissland Register would have the records, but it has been lost.
