"Ralph Waldo Fowler, Jr. was a professional baseball player in 1950 for the Goldsboro Cardinals in Coastal Plains League, North Carolina. One night toward the end of the season, the first baseman had been called up to the class B league so Ralph got a contract for one game. He was an inspector for the United States Public health service between 1950 and 1953 in North Carolina, New York, Alabama. He got mugged in New York City and decided to come south. He became a Pediatrician in 1960 and retired in 1988. His office was at Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia. He retired to Rabun County, Georgia. He has been a volunteer fireman since he retired."
