Keeble Terry

(April 22, 1759 - )

(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: I have shown in the past that Keeble Terry was the son of Nathaniel Terry, based on research of Paul Terry Thompson, as shown in his book, All About Terrys. He possibly based this information on "Roster of Soldiers from the Tennessee Society of the D.A.R., which shows him as the son of Nathaniel Terry. Other researchers, Margie Brown and Wayne R. West, show Keeble Terry as the son-in-law of Nathaniel Terry, married to his daughter, Sarah Terry. I have changed my data to reflect this new data.)

Following are notes from Wayne R. West:

Based on deed info of Nathaniel Terry, Chancery court records in Bedford Co. TN shows that Keeble & Sarah had no children . States that in 1837 and again in 1851.

Misc. Halifax Co. notes say a Jeremiah Terry assigned his land in Bedford Co. TN to a Keeble Terry in 1813. Poss. brother or uncle or cousin.

A Keeble Terry in Halifax Co. VA sold his land to Henry Ford of Pittsylvania Co. VA in 1797

Halifax Co. VA Deed book 21 p.115 Jan. 3, 1806 lists Keeble Terry & wife Sarah of Wilson Co. TN to William Thomas sold 65 acres. The land from Sarah Terry's father Nathaniel Terry lot#7 witnessed by Berryman Green. brother in-law.

Halifax Co. VA marriage books lists Keeble Terry m. Sarah Terry Nov 5, 1787.

"Roster of Soldiers from the TN Society of the D.A.R" books gives the birth date of Keeble Terry but has him listed as son of Nathaniel Terry not son- in -law ( that may be because Sarah also went by the name Sally and they were both Terrys and the person submitting the info. may have been confused....this is a type written old book.

Keeble is the only "documented" child of Moses Terry and Sarah.
