"V. J. (Verla Joyce) Perkins Kemper Horn, 75, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at a local hospital. Services are 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial in Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home. Mrs. Horn was born in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School, and attended McMurry College. She married Dr. Roy Kemper in 1941; he preceded her in death. She moved to Coleman in 1954 and in 1986 she married Cliff Horn. She was a real estate agent and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, and Chapel Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, served on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and was past president of the Medical Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Cliff Horn of Coleman; six children, Judia Terry of Coleman, Susan Kemper of Glen Cove, Martin Kemper, William Daniel "Kemp" Kemper, both of Abilene, Alan Kemper of Houston, Anita Calk of Silver Valley; two step-daughters, Jacqui Dooley of Rogers, Ark., Bobbie Horn of Brownfield; 17 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nephews. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Rebuilding Fund, P.O. Box 852, Coleman, Texas, 76834; or the donor's favorite charity."
