"Harriett Ann Greer, was born September 5, 1825; died March 5, 1897; married first September 4, 1845, William Orme; married second, February 17 1864, James Vernon. During the War Between the States she was living with her father in Grassy Cove (It was with this daughter that Weatherston S. Greer and his wife, Mary (Kyle) Greer, spent the last years of their lives.), and after her marriage with James Vernon, the family removed to Sequatchie Valley. Issue: (listed)." (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: In the original Greer article in "Leaves From the Family Tree" and in Torrence's work (which I believe was taken from the "Leaves From the Family Tree" article), there are three children (Mary Hortense, Edna Earle and Gaither A. Vernon) shown as children from Harriett Ann (Greer) Vernon's second marriage. In the second article on Weatherston Shelton Greer's family in "Leaves From the Family Tree," Mary is shown as a child of Gaither Vernon. There is much more detail in the second article, but it appears that the second article may be incorrect, due to a possible typographical error. For this genealogy, we will assume that were three children from Harriett's second marriage. Let me know if this is in error.)
