The marriage of Clara Hammonds, 18, of Arkadelphia, and Clarence Winkles, 21, of Arkadelphia, on 11 August 1924, is recorded in Clark County, Arkansas Marriage Book W, page 330.

1910 Dallas County, Arkansas census.

"Clarence Winkle died at Idabel, Oklahoma in 1930, supposedly from acute indigestion from eating raw corn. Clara, his wife, and one of Connie Easley's brothers or brother-in-laws went to get him, but he had already died before they got there. They were not allowed to bring his body back to Arkansas, so he was buried in or around Idabel. He was there by himself looking for work and his family was still in Arkansas. It was hot when he died, so it was probably in the summer of 1930." (Belle Easley, 1994.)
