Individual Details
Mary Frances "Hannah" Beller
(December 29, 1822 - 1912)
"Mary Beller, daughter of William Beller and niece of Peter and Evaline Beller , married a man named Joseph "Faus" Baines. Baines, and his brother, George Washington Baines, lived along Crooked Creek near Baines School and Church, just south of what is now Harrison on Highway 7 until the 1840's, when they moved to Texas. George Washington Baines was the grandfather of United States President, Lyndon Baines Johnson." (Harrison Daily Times, May 12, 1988.)
(NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Many Baines and Beller researchers have confused Mary, the daughter of William Beller and Mary, the daughter of Peter Beller. The daughter of William Beller was born about 1822, the daughter of Peter was born 10 years later, about 1932. The daughter of William Beller married Joseph "Faus" Baines. Harold Rowland has given Joseph Faus Baines as a husband of Mary Emily Beller, daughter of George William Beller. This is incorrect as Mary Emily Beller married Sam Fulbright and was married to him the rest of her life. The "Mary Beller" indicated in the Harrison Daily Times article in 1988 that Faus Baines married, was shown by Rebekah Baines Johnson to be "Hannah Frances Beller" an aunt of Mary Emily Beller. However the 1850 Carroll County, Arkansas census shows Joseph Baines wife was Mary F. Much of the information about the Baines family and the descendants of Joseph Faus Baines and Hannah Frances Beller was taken from A FAMILY ALBUM, 1965, by Rebekah Baines Johnson, pages 131 and following.)
