James Walter Simonton

(September 23, 1854 - March 20, 1907)

"James Walter Simonton and his wife Myra Medora Malone bought a farm in 1880 on the old Wire Road outside of Ruston, Lincoln Parish Louisiana. This was referred to as the Simonton Place and has been renamed the Villa Rosa Plantation. It is owned by members of the family. In the Secession of David Colvin, a relation to David Malone's family, on 29 November 1881, J. W. Simonton bought 500 lbs of fodder. Myra Medora and James Walter were married at the home of Jesse Adam Simmons in the presence of John Calhoun. The marriage license was witnessed by J. D. Calhoun and J. W. Skinner."
