Daniel (Civil War-Federal); Capt William Montgomery's Co., 2nd Reg of Light Artillary, Missouri Volunteers. Enrolled on 27 February 1865 to serve two years. Discharged 20 Nov 1865 at Benton Bks, Missouri (shows he was born in Cannon County, Kentucky and was only 18 yrs. old). According to gravestone Chester was a Civil War veteran. He died from a fall when his team of horses "spooked" and ran away with the wagon in which he was riding. His grandson, Lyle Daniel says he was only half a mile from his home when the accident happened.
