"Mary Funderburg, 77, of Coleman, died March 24, 2009 at her residence. Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
"Mary Funderburg was born May 11, 1931 in Coleman, the daughter of W.B. Parkis and Ada Oneta Dowdy Parkis. She grew up in Coleman and attended school in Coleman. On December 29, 1948, she married Claudie Lee Funderburg in Coleman. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1984. Mary graduated from nursing school in Brownwood, and received her Licensed Vocational Nurse license. She worked at Sealy Hospital in Santa Anna, Twighlight Nursing Home in Bangs, Senior Citizens Nursing Home in Winters, Holiday Hill Nursing Home and Leisure Lodge, now called Coleman Healthcare Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
"She is survived by one daughter and son-in-daughter Susan and J.D. Culpepper of Zephyr; three sons, Tommie Funderburg, Mike Funderburg and Stephen Funderburg, all of Coleman; two sisters, Geneva Morton and Sandra Steffey, both of Coleman; five grandchildren, Samantha Funderburg and Manolito Funderburg, both of Deerfield, Kansas, Eden Culpepper, Ciera Culpepper and Lacy Culpepper, all of Zephyr and two great grandchildren.
"She was preceded in death by her husband, and one son, David Funderburg on September 29, 2003.
