"Edwin Elllis Whiteside held a membership Auburn Lodge No 14 A F & A M. He was a teacher of Lost Creek, the first public school in Hurricane Township. Under direction of Lincoln County Court, he supervised the changing of the channel of the Lost Creek to it's present bed." (The Kemper Book, Clarence Cannon, 1957, page 24.)
