"State of Missouri, County of Lincoln - Be it remembered that on the ninth day of January A.D. 1834 was joined together in the holy state of Matrimony by the undersigned Justice of the peace, written and for the said county Charles Ferry and Arzilla Watts given under my hand this 3rd day of February 1834. Recorded 7th day of February AD 1834, F. Parker, Recorder. Brice W. Hammock, Justice of the Peace." (Lincoln County Marriage Book 1, page 49.)
"Charles Ferry was a veteran of the Black Hawk War who received as pay for his military service in that war a warrant for the land on which he spent the remainder of his life." (Notation on a survey inventory of Watts Cemetery done by June Groshong and Roberta Teson in 1980.) (NOTE FROM RALPH TERRY: Was the Edna Ferry who placed the stone here about 1945 the Edna Ferry who died in 1944?)
