(September 8, 1824 - December 31, 1892)

Information about Nancy T. Terry and William T. Kirby is from Julie Kirby, email: jkirby@ponyexpress.net>.

"I have been researching John D. Greer and his son James Alexander Greer for over 10 years. I have worked on Nancy Terry Greer and her sister Amy. I have lots of documentation from Randolph Co., AL as well as more information on the distribution of John's will. He owned land in Troup Co., GA and land across the river in Chambers Co., AL and he owned the Ferry that went from Long Cane in Troup County, GA to Chambers Co., GA. William Terry Kirby, Sr. was the son of Ransom Kirby, and Ransom was the Ferryman for the Ferry. Forest Clark Johnson, Historian of Troup Co., GA and I believe that Nancy and William were married at the home of her grandfather. He father James Alexander Greer had died in Montgomery Co., TX, and was a soldier of the War of 1812. I also have some documents copied from the Georgia State Archives on John D. Greer and some on his sons.

"I would love to send you this documentation. I have worked for Macie Kirby Lester, Ethel Stevens Andress, and the late Nancy Caroline Adcock Wooten. Mrs. Wooten, before her death, had done the paper work and a Historical Marker was put beside the Lebanon Christian Church in Randolph Co., AL where William, Nancy, Amy and Sarah P. Terry Greer are buried. I have copies of the documents written for Sara P. Terry Greer when she appied for land in Randolph Co., AL in 1855. The two daughter also made statements that day, as well as William Terry Kirby, Sr.

"Mrs. Ethel Stevens Andress has her application in Washington D. C. where she has filed for DAR. She would like to furnish you any and all the documentation we have in order for you to add it to your information. I have also done work on Thomas Greer and know that he was one of the first Justices in Richmond Co., GA (can't remember the date but have copies of the Colonial Records where it is recorded). Please let me know if you wish me to send this information. I am a member of the Fielding Lewis Chapter of NSDAR in Marietta, Georgia, and work on our Lineage Committee. My address is 3277 Sutcliffe Ridge, Marietta, Georgia 30064 (770) 422-6660. Ethel Andress lives in Peterman, Alabama." (Marlene Wall, May 2000.)
