etty Jean Hartung, 73, passed away quietly on May 11, 2008 in The Dalles, Oregon and will be missed dearly by so many who love her.
She was born in San Angelo, TX on July 24, 1934 to Elbert C. Allen and Fay Alice (Terry) Allen. Her family moved to the northwest when she was a young teen and settled in Oregon where she started her family, she had seven children. She also helped raise three Grandsons who know her as a mother.
Betty was creative and resourceful. She had a sense of adventure.
She was very hardworking, responsible, honest and loyal.
Betty loved to garden, cook and preserve foods. None of us ever left home empty handed. Her heart was big and open to us all.
She left us the wonderful gifts of faith and family.
She leaves behind her beloved friend and partner, James Pugh; her sister, Pat Dawkins; her children, Terry, Vicki, Elizabeth, Brenda and Linda; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by two children, Kathryn and Rosemarie; her parents; her sister, Nancy Smart; her brother-inlaw, Doyle Dawkins and her husband Dean Hartung.
A memorial service will be held on Monday May 19, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center 5000 Discovery Drive The Dalles, OR. 97058.
Private cremation held at The Dalles Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
