Francis Kathleen "Fanny" Robinson
( - )
"Frances Kathleen Garrett is a member of the DAR, a genealogist, and has the complete line of descent of Captain John DeJarnette of Anson County, North Carolina. She and her husband, E. S. Garrett, had no children. Her address in 1954 was 1924 10th Avenue, South, Apt. 2, Birmingham, Alabama." (DeJARNETTE AND ALLIED FAMILIES IN AMERICA (1699-1954) by Earl C. and May Frost, page 162.) Francis Kathleen (Robinson) Garrett is DAR Member # 210757 (have copy of application on file). She was born on Robinson Plantation near Benton, Alabama.
"I was looking over your work on the Terry family and descendents. You have done a very fine job. One of the descendents, Francis Katheleen Robinson, daughter of John William Robinson, granddaughter of Gen. Cornelius Robinson and his wife, Martha Owen DeJarnette, was indeed married to Ephraim Spence Garrett, I. They married in Leavenworth, KS. However, you have they had no children. That is news to me as I am their granddaughter. Their daughter, Helen, was my mother. Fanny, as she was called, lived with us until she died when I was 10. She gave me my love of genealogy. What DAR has for her having no children is in error. I have more in this family as well. Fanny had a sister, Neal, short for Cornelius. Yes, they named their daughter Cornelius. I remember very, very well my grandmother telling me that as well as her name was spelled with an 'i', Francis, which is a man's way of spelling it. That was just her parents. At any rate, I have much on this family. Martha Ann Terry was Gen. Cornelius Robinson's mother. Just today I had a friend go to the cemetery where she is buried and he dug up her tombstone. It was at one time one very tall marker that had fallen over and was buried in the dirt. So, if you are interested, I have much on this family." (Carolyn Golowka, email: cgolowka@prodigy.net>, 2002.)
