Mrs. Edna Ruth Hayes, 81, of Lanett died Sunday, March 11, 2001 at Beverly Health Care in Lanett.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Jim McCullough and Dr. Jerome King officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by two daughters, Paulette Colley of Valley and Sherralyn Hayes of Lees Summit, Mo.; her son, Sherrad Hayes Jr. of Lanett; two sisters, Evelyn Jones of Valley and Mary Lou Atkinson of Talladega, Ala.; her brother, James Ray of Lanett; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Born Nov. 14, 1919 in Clay County, Ala., Mrs. Hayes had worked as a sales clerk at Kessler's and Elmores, and had formerly worked at WestPoint Pepperell's Lanett Mill. She assisted her husband at the Haye's Market. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shawmut. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrad Hayes Sr. She was the daughter of the late Mamie Parsons Ray and Overton Ray.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Chattahoochee Hospice in her memory.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 12 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
