Mrs. Kathryn Pursell Tomlinson, 86, of the River View community in Valley died Monday, March 18, 2002 at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 at 2 p.m. at Langdale United Methodist Church with the Revs. Mike Stonbraker and Steve York officiating. Burial will follow in Five Points Cemetery in Five Points, Ala.
Mrs. Tomlinson is survived by three daughters, Roberta Jordan of Pine Hill, Ala., Josephine Hall of Linden, Ala., and Maudie Sammons of Demopolis, Ala.; her son, Jim Tomlinson of Valley; her sister, Karen Bledsoe of Valley; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Born March 6, 1916 in Daviston, Ala., Mrs. Tomlinson was a 1934 graduate of Daviston High School. She retired from Lanett Bleachery and Dye Works in 1982 with 25 years service. She was a long-time member of Langdale United Methodist Church in Valley where she was an active member of the Crusaders Sunday School class. She was like a grandmother to three special nephews, Tommy Bledsoe, Jeb Bledsoe and Jim Bledsoe. She was the daughter of the late Ludie Karen Hayes Pursell and Thomas J. Pursell.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 19 from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point.
