Mr. Lyman Melbourne "Mel" Penn, 95, of Valley, AL passed away on Tuesday, 14 Jun 2016 at the EAMC Lanier Nursing Home in Valley. He was born on 1 Jul 1920 in Oxford, GA.

Mr. Penn is survived by his two sons, Ronnie M. (Gloria) Penn of Valley, AL and Steven Randall "Randy" (Hector Arias) Penn of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Karen Penn (Mark) Brown and Brian Ronald (Lachaka) Penn, both of Valley, AL; five great-grandchildren, T. J. Williams, Hunter Kendrick, Omari Penn, Garrison Brown, and Nariah Penn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Cox Penn; great-grandson, Penn Ford Brown; and several brothers and sisters.

Mr. Penn was a member of the Lanett First Christian Church. He was a World War II Naval veteran, where he served on a destroyer. He was a former employee of West Point Pepperell with over 30 years of service to the company.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. (EST) Friday, 17 Jun 2016 at graveside in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Rev David Bradshaw officiating. The family will visit and fellowship with friends in the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to one's favorite church or charity in his memory.
