Carolyn Patricia Orr

(September 3, 1943 - May 29, 2015)

Carolyn Patricia Orr was born in Opelika, Alabama in 1943 to Mary Evelyn Wright Orr and Robert Stanford Orr. She attended Opelika High School (class of 1961), where she was a beautiful homecoming queen, majorette, and was known for her beautiful smile and elaborate ball gowns. There, she met her high school sweetheart, William E. "Skeet" Bartlett, Jr., whom she married in October of 1965 at the First Baptist Church of Opelika. She graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and later completed her graduate degree at Golden Gate University. She was a loving and devoted wife, who moved from her beloved family and friends in Opelika to support Skeet's aviation career in the Air Force. They lived for a brief time in New Jersey and California, but spent the better part of his career just outside of Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, where they raised their only daughter, Catherine, whom she affectionately called "Missy." Carolyn was known for her musical and artistic abilities, much like those of her mother, Evelyn Orr, and brother, Robert Orr. Carolyn was an incredibly selfless person, always putting the interests of others before her own. She cared deeply for family and transitioned in a short period of time from raising their daughter to being a caregiver for her husband and her mother in their final years. Her family misses her deeply but finds peace in the fact that she is now reunited with loved ones and is in the home of the Lord. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Bartlett Poole (Ty Poole); granddaughters, Madelyn Poole and Kelly Poole; and brother Robert Orr (Alison Orr).
